Ah, 2019. Hello. You already taste so so sweet.
I absolutely love the New Year. The romance of setting new intentions and that giddy feeling of having a new clean slate is so refreshing. I have many goals and aspirations that I am so looking forward to accomplishing in 2019, and I can’t wait for it to all unfold.
One of my New Years resolutions (like every year) is to read more books! I love reading, learning and exploring new topics. I constantly crave knowledge. So naturally, I am always trying to find ways to cram in more knowledge wherever and however I can. I was able to get in so many more books last year by using Audible. Since I have a decent commute to work a few times a week, I figured why not listen to audiobooks? Music can get a little tiresome after a while, and a good book to listen to on my way to or from work really helps the time go by. Now I actually enjoy my drive home!
Almost all of these books mentioned in this post you can find on Audible. If you aren’t familiar with audible yet.. let me just tell you it is life changing. With a monthly membership you get access to 3 audiobooks a month! You can also do free exchanges of audiobooks if you aren’t happy with the one you chose. And the best part is (aside from all of the extra books you are able to read whilst multi-tasking) is that you can get any of these books for free today! And you get to keep it if you try out a free 30 day trial.
So with out further adieu lets start 2019 off on a good note! New year, new books 🙂
The Circadian Code by Dr. Satchin Panda
Did you know our entire body runs on a circadian rhythm? This books shows the importance of not only what we do but when we do it and the effect it has on our body. It will show you how to enhance weight loss, improve sleep, optimize exercise, and manage technology so that it doesn’t interfere with your body’s natural rhythm, in order to live our most optimal and healthy life. This life changing book will also show you how to prevent and reverse ailments like diabetes, cancer, and dementia, as well as microbiome conditions like acid reflux, heartburn, and irritable bowel disease. This book is so so important, especially in this modern world we have created.
The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman
I recommended this book in last years post for life changing books you need to read in 2018, and it’s so important it has made it here again for the second year in a row. For everyone who is in a relationship, or wants to be in a relationship, you need to read this book. It will even help improve your relationships between friends and family. This book will change the way you treat all of your relationships, and will make you more aware of how you like to receive love. Everyone has a sepcific love language, so being aware of which one is more specific to you, will help improve your relationships (and who wouldn’t want that?!). This is a quick read, and can be easily given to your significant other, or a friend who might benefit from it once you are done reading it. This year, make your relationships the best possible by giving this book a read!

I highly recommend to make this year the best you can.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
This is a must read, especially if you are on the path to personal development and growth. It could almost be recognized as a classic in personal growth. Don Miguel Ruiz brings ancient teachings into his books to help develop personal growth and spiritual enlightenment. The four agreements are 1. Be impeccable with your word 2. Don’t take anything personally 3. Don’t make assumptions. 4. Always do your best. This book shows you how and why one should be doing these things. It is simple, yet so life changing of a book which brings philosophy and wisdom together to help improve your life 1,000 fold.
Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, PhD
Matthew Walker is a sleep expert. He claims and proves that today’s “silent sleep loss epidemic” is the greatest public health challenge we face in the 21st century. Sleep is one of the most important but most least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. This book honestly changed my life, and changed the way I look at sleep and has made it a priority in my life now. I highly highly recommend!
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
If you want to learn how the courage to be vulnerable transforms the way you live, love, parent and lead, then look no further. Brene Brown really dives into vulnerability and the important role it plays in changing our lives for the better. This is such an eye opening book, and is one of my favorites of hers. “Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.”
12 Rules for Life by Jordan B. Peterson
Jordan B. Peterson is a world renowned psychologist and intellectual. If you want any guidance on how to improve your life this is a great place to start overall. It perfectly ties together philosophy, psychology and self-help/personal growth. Peterson believes the cure for society starts with curing the individual. Although this book may be a tougher read then some of the others mentioned above, I strongly recommend if you are to only buy one book on this list, for it to be this one. It is that life changing.
